Read a YouTube error in the right context

Start with the message you can actually see and where it appeared. The local decoder is a reference lookup; it does not open the video, inspect a device or connect to your account.

Keep the code with its player

The embedded-player reference distinguishes codes 2, 5, 100, 101, 150 and 153. A number shown in an app, television or another product can mean something else. Select the context before treating a number as an embedded-player event.

Use a small, safe description

  1. Copy only the short visible error, without passwords, private links or complete debug logs.
  2. Record whether it came from an embedded player, a watch page, the app or a TV device.
  3. Try the next step for that context, then compare the same video and device before changing another setting.

A result is a route, not a diagnosis

An unavailable or private video and an owner restriction are different from a local playback problem. The lookup cannot confirm an account's permissions or guarantee a repair. Use the linked official reference when your exact message is outside the tool's documented scope.

Keep the limit in view

No account access, video playback, device inspection or promised universal fix.
